If you book the F2F Consultation only (£180), ultrasound can be added as a separate item if it is clinically indicated during the appointment. We recommend the combined package for most new gynaecology presentations, as the ultrasound significantly extends the scope of clinical assessment.
What does cervical screening involve?
Cervical screening (sometimes called a smear test or Pap test) is a brief, straightforward procedure that takes around five minutes. Dr Mermigka uses a speculum to gently collect a sample of cells from the cervix using a small brush. The sample is sent to a laboratory for liquid-based cytology analysis and, where requested, tested for high-risk strains of human papillomavirus (HPV). Results are typically returned within a few days. The procedure is not usually painful, though some women find it briefly uncomfortable. Dr Mermigka takes care to ensure you are as comfortable as possible throughout.
